Looking for the watershed between the Middle- and Late Iron Ages in Lithuanian archaeology
LTStraipsniu autorė siekia pristatyti savo požiūrį į VII-IX a. radinių, daugiausiai aptiktų dabartinės Lietuvos teritorijos laidojimo paminkluose, tipologiją. Tyrinėjant viduriniojo geležies amžiaus antrosios pusės radinius svarbu ne tik kelti klausimą, kaip reikėtų datuoti vieną ar kitą radinį, bet ir ieškoti atsakymo, kodėl jis taip datuojamas. Nepaisant dabartinėje Lietuvos teritorijoje vėlyvuoju migracijų laikotarpiu gyvenusių baltų tam tikro kultūrinio sąstingio ir saviizoliacijos, reikėtų ieškoti net menkiausių užuominų, rodančių ryšius su germanų ir slavų kultūromis, taip pat kitomis baltų ir kaimyninių finougrų bendruomenėmis. Siekiant atkurti dabartinėje Lietuvos teritorijoje vėlyvuoju migracijų laikotarpiu vykusius procesus, vertėtų atkreipti dėmesį į ryšius su germaniškais, slaviškais, finougriškais patikimai datuotinais radiniais ir jų stiliais, stengtis išskirti savarankiškus dekoro elementus, papuošalų ir buities daiktų bruožus atsižvelgiant į jų vystymąsi ir kaitą nepriklausomai nuo to, kuri objekto dalis dekoruojama, taip pat įsitikinti, ar šių elementų pokyčių panašumas nesieja to paties laikotarpio skirtingų tipų papuošalų. Dar vienas sudėtingas uždavinys – patikrinti dirbinių formų specifiškumą visoje baltiškosios medžiagos chronologinėje skalėje. Skirtingų formų dirbinių grupių kaitos gilesnė analizė padėtų sinchronizuoti regionų kultūrinį vystymąsi. Chronologijos patikrinimui išlieka svarbūs statistiniai metodai, tyrinėtų kapinynų horizontaliosios stratigrafijos analizė ir, žinoma, kapinynų medžiagos publikavimas.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Takoskyra; Vidurinis geležies amžius; Vėlyvasis geležies amžius; Watershead; Middle Iron Age; Late Iron Age.
ENThe author of the papers seeks to present her approach to the typology of the 7th-9th-cc. finds mostly discovered in the burial monuments in the territory of present-day Lithuania. In studies of finds from the second half of the Middle Iron Age, it is important not only to raise the question of dating different finds but also to look for the answer to the question of why the finds are being dated in this specific way. Despite a certain cultural stagnation and self-isolation of the Balts who lived in the territory of the present-day Lithuania in the late Migration Period, it is necessary to look for even the slightest hints showing their relations with the German and the Slavic cultures, as well as with the other Baltic and the neighbouring Finno-Ugric communities. In attempting to restore the processes that took place in the late Migration Period in the current territory of Lithuania, attention should be paid to the links with reliably dated Germanic, Slavic and Finno-Ugric finds and their styles, and efforts should be made to identify independent elements of décor and features of jewellery and domestic items, taking into account their development and change irrespective of which part of the item was decorated. Another difficult task is to check the specifics of the items’ forms within the full chronological range of the Baltic material. More detailed analysis of the change of groups of wares of different shapes would help synchronise the cultural development of the regions. Statistical methods, horizontal stratigraphy analysis of the burial grounds under investigation and publication of the material remain important for verifying the chronology.
