Summary / Abstract:

Naujos Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūros pradžia galima laikyti I tūkstantmečio po Kr. antrąjį ketvirtį. Brūkšniuotosios keramikos kultūros žmonės nebuvo tiesioginiai Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūros protėviai, nes svarbus vaidmuo formuojantis naujai kultūrai tenka vakarų baltų etniniam lementui.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Brūkšniuotosios keramikos kultūra; Rytų Lietuvos pilkapių kultūra; Senasis geležies amžius (romėniškasis geležies amžius); Piliakalniai ir gyvenvietės Kernavėje; Stroked Ware culture; East Lithuanian Barrow culture; Old Iron Age (Roman Iron Age); Hill-forts and settlements at Kernavė.

ENThe article examines the problems of disappearance of the hatched ceramics culture in the catchment of the Neris and provides a study of the archeological materials, provided by the mounds and settlements of Kernavė. The sparseness of the archeological materials makes the dating of the later period and the disappearance of the hatched ceramics culture, which is important in order to identify whether the changes in the ethnic composition of the inhabitants resulted in the said disappearance or whether it was a result of the internal development of the culture and whether the new culture of mounds of the Eastern Lithuania is a direct heritage of the hatched ceramics culture or was it determined by much more complicated ethnical processes more difficult. The layer in the mound of the Aukuras hill, destroyed by the fire, with its artifacts, i. e. Djakovo tipo svareliai bei plokštinio antsmilkinio liejimo forma, marks the end of the hatched ceramics culture period. Analogical situation is in Aukštadvaris and Nemenčinė. In other mounds of the hatched ceramics culture of a later period of the Eastern Lithuania similar phenomena can be noted. New settlements, characterizing with rugged ceramics, replaced the monuments of the hatched ceramics culture. The unquestionable existence of the local substratum among the new inhabitants is shown by a prominent short transitional period, when pots, having traits of ceramics of both types, were used. The beginnings of the new Eastern Lithuanian mound culture can be considered the second quarter of the 1st millennium A. D.. The people, belonging to the hatched ceramics culture, were not direct forefathers of the Eastern Lithuanian mound culture, since an important role was played by the ethnic elements of the Western Aistrians in the formation of the new culture.
