Summary / Abstract:

LTŠiame straipsnyje trumpai aptariama Vilniaus topografija ir miesto plano struktūros formavimasis. Anksčiausiai Vilniuje apgyvendintas Pilies (Gedimino) kalnas: čia nenutrūkstamai buvo gyventa nuo pirmųjų amžių iki XVII a. XIII a. Vilnių sudarė Pilies kalnas ir šiaurinės papėdės gyvenvietė. Vėliau apgyvendinant vakarų ir pietvakarių papėdes Žemutinis miestas ėmė plėstis. Archeologiniai duomenys, rodantys intensyvų naujų teritorijų apgyvendinimą daugiau ar mažiau sutampa su istoriškai žinomu Vilniaus įkūrimu 1323 m. Natūralų miesto vystymąsi radikaliai pakeitė kryžiuočių puolimai: saugumo sumetimais Žemutinis miestas XIV a. viduryje ar trečiajame ketvirtyje buvo perkirstas pusiau, gynybine mūro siena aptveriant Pilies kalno papėdę. Rytinė miesto dalis, likusi už tvoros, buvo fortifikuota aštrikuolių tvora. Po šių permainų pagrindine miesto dalimi tapo Pilies kalno papėdė – XIV a. čia buvo tankiausiai apgyvendinta miesto vieta, pastatyti pirmieji civiliniai mūriniai pastatai. XIV a. antrajame ketvirtyje šalia kelių į Medininkus, Trakus, Polocką ir Rygą pradėjo kurtis gyvenvietės-priemiesčiai. Ankstyviausias apgyvendintas rajonas apėmė dabartinių Latako ir Rusų gatvių rajonus. XIV a. pabaigos įvykiai – Lietuvos krikštas, savivaldos (Magdeburgo) teisės Vilniui suteikimas ir karas, kurio metu sunaikintas Kreivasis (Aukštutinis) miestas – nulėmė naują miesto struktūrą: pagrindinis miesto gyvenimas nuo XIV-XV a. ribos jau vyko dabartiniame Senamiestyje. Tuo metu apgyvendinta teritorija prie Dominikonų bažnyčios ir teritorija tarp Bernardinų bažnyčios ir kelio į Medininkus.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Vilnius; Topografija; Miesto formavimasis; Kultūrinis sluoksnis; Arsenalai; Ikigotikinis sluoksnis; Pilies kalnas; Aukštutinės ir Žemutinės pilies kompleksas; Plikasis kalnas; Castle Hill; Old Arsenal; St. Michael's Church; Franciscan Church.

ENThe article discusses topography of Vilnius and the formation of the structure of the city plan. Castle (Gediminas) Hill was populated the earliest: from the first centuries to the 17th, the 18th century. Vilnius consisted of Castle Hill and the settlement at the southwest foot of Castle Hill. At the northern foot of Castle Hill, in the area of the Old Arsenal, a small settlement existed in the 13th century. According to archaeological data, the beginning of the intensive settling of new territories coincided with the historical period of founding of Vilnius in 1323. In the 14th century expansion of the settlement outside the castle town to the northeast along the Neris River began and the Lower City was founded there. In the second quarter of the 14th century the Lower City encompassed damp west and southwest slopes of Castle Hill. In the third quarter of the 14th century for defence reasons the Lower City was divided into two by digging a new channel for the Vilnelė. A brick defensive wall surrounded its southern and western parts and the slopes of the Castle became “intra muros castri”. The remaining part of the Lower City found itself outside the walls. The suburbs in the place of the present Old Town began to be founded in the second quarter of the 14th century. They were founded beside the roads to Medininkai, Trakai, Polotsk and Riga. The earliest suburbs were “Civitas Ruthernica” to the east of the road to Medininkai and the “German City” around the Church of St Michael and the Franciscan Church. The events of the end of the 14th century – baptism, granting Magdeburg rights to Vilnius and a war – determined the new structure of the city.
