Summary / Abstract:

ENA. Juodaitytė and K. Rūdytė explain the discourse in the broadest sense as a socially acceptable way of speaking, evaluating, believing or acting; that is why they put a particular emphasis on the creating actors and empowering or limiting contemporary (acting now) or historical (prevailing in the past) contexts of social culture. In the authors' opinion, discourse analysis is applicable when it is necessaiy to trace what different social agents say about the object of social, cultural or educational attention. Besides, this analysis allows explaining how the informants' statements arc empowered or limited by the existing socio-cultural structure, and how language affects social reality of education. One of the aims of the discourse analysis is to determine and analyse society myths as an objective reality that is implied in the conversation or in other actions. The research theme is formulated as a question: how do some myths become objectively tine, while others - simply impossible? The context of the culture of informal learning of children can be understood as construed on the basis of the conception of traditional and post-traditional teaching/learning.However, post-modern, child-centered conception of culture does not become prevailing, because there is a lack of 'talking' about this kind of learning culture. The discourse of children's informal learning culture is forgotten, because a discourse of another culture exists in a parallel way - and that is learning in a formal environment. These discourses interact, but they continuously fight for truth. Post-modernist discourse is vast and includes a lot of themes: children's rights, equal opportunities, etc., which overlap. Discourse methodology allows covering the whole of attitudes towards the culture of informal learning of children in a concrete culture in a systematic way by avoiding provoking these attitudes or acting with a preliminary scientific knowledge.
