ENThere is no considerable interest in the tales created by schoolchildren in Lithuania, thus simple from the first sight seeming task – to differentiate the tales created by children from other narrative texts – becomes both the practical and theoretical problem that requires research and specific decision. It is not enough to base only on the common characteristics of tales, named in folklore handbooks: the plots of the tales created by children are usually insufficiently explicated; the relation between fantasy and reality in them is inadequate to the folklore texts; the world of the tales created by children is up-to-date, and there are too less elements of the fantastic world. In the present work, according to the analysis and generalization of scientific literature, we share the experience of different foreign countries on the identification questions of the tales created by children, introduce the criteria due to which it is offered to assess their quality, and seek to determine the assessment methodology of the tales created by children.
