Balio užfiksuotuose XIX a. - XX a. pradžios Joniniu papročiuose išlikę archajiškosios pasaulėžiūros reliktų. Metodai: fenomenologinis, lyginamasis, analitinis. Išvados: viena vertus. XIX a. - XX a. pradžios Joniniu papročiuose randame dargana daug archajiškosios pasaulėžiūros reliktų: kita vertus. Joninių papročiai, ypač jų prasmės aiškinimai liaudyje, jau gerokai profanavę, paprastai tesuvokiamas buitiškasis papročiu lygmuo.

ENThe subject of the article is the traditions of the Midsummer Day of the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century, registered by J. Balys. The article aims at identification of the traditions of the Midsummer Day of the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century, registered by J. Balys, which retain relics of archaic worldview. The methods employed: phenomenological, comparative and analytical. The conclusions: on one hand, traditions of the Midsummer Day of the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century still contain quite a large number of relics of the archaic worldview, on the other, the Midsummer Day traditions and especially the explanations of their meanings among common people, which have reached a significant level of profanity, quite frequently are a simply comprehended everyday level of tradition.
