Nauja Žvėrūnos-Medeinos perspektyva

LTXIII a. Lietuvos valstybės religijos tema lig šiol plačiausiai nagrinėta baltų mitologijos tyrinėtojų A. J. Greimo, V. Toporovo, N. Vėliaus. Pastaruoju metu šių tyrimų rezultatus pabandyta susieti su archeologiniais ir istoriniais duomenimis apie Lietuvos valstybės kūrimąsi ir ankstyvąjį jos egzistavimo laikotarpį. Prieita išvados, kad vienodos laidojimo tradicijos (sudegintų mirusiųjų laidojimo plokštiniuose kapinynuose) įsivyravimas baltų genčių teritorijoje XII–XIII a. ir Lietuvos valstybės kūrimasis yra sinchroniški procesai. Apie šią valstybinės religijos reformą kalbama 1261 m. užrašytame Sovijaus mite, kuriame užfiksuotas priežastinis ryšys tarp mirusiųjų deginimo papročio įvedimo ir naujų (arba kanonizuotų) dievų: Andojo, Perkūno, Kalvelio ir Žvėrūnos garbinimo. Šių dievų bruožai byloja, jog valstybinė religija XIII a. Lietuvoje išreiškė valdančio karinio sluoksnio ideologiją. Straipsnyje bandoma atsakyti į klausimą, kodėl tarp XIII a. valstybės ir valdovo garbinamų dievų yra Žvėrūna-Medeina; siekiama plačiau pagrįsti nuomonę apie menamą ypatingą ryšį tarp Mindaugo giminės, kuriai priklausė valstybės formavimo iniciatyva, ir deivės Žvėrūnos- Medeinos.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Žvėrūna-Medeina; Baltų mitologija; Žuravecas; Vilkpėdė; Žvėrūna-Medeina; Wolf-footprints.

ENThe topic of religion of the State of Lithuania in the 13th c. has been most widely investigated by researchers of Baltic mythology A. J. Greimas, V. Toporovas, and N. Vėlius. The results of the above researches have been recently attempted to relate to archaeological and historical data about the formation of the State of Lithuania and its early period of existence. The conclusion was drawn that the establishment of a uniform burial tradition (burial of the cremated bodies in flat grave cemeteries) in the territory of Baltic tribes in the 12th–13th c. and the formation of the State of Lithuania were synchronic processes. This reform of state religion is referred to in the Sovius myth written in 1261, which presents the causal relationship between the introduction of the custom of cremation and the worship of new (or canonised) gods: Andojas, Perkūnas, Kalvelis and Žvėrūna. The features of these gods testify that state religion in the 13th c. Lithuania expressed the ideology of the ruling military stratum. The paper attempts to find the reason for worshiping Žvėrūna-Medeina among other gods worshiped by the state and the sovereign in the 13th c.; it aims to more widely substantiate the opinion about the supposed special relationship between the Mindaugas family, upon whose initiative the state was formed, and goddess Žvėrūna-Medeina.
