Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje analizuojami folkloriniai mirties ir laidotuvių vaizdiniai vėlyvosiose lietuvių karinėse-istorinėse dainose, sukurtose ir išpopuliarėjusiose maždaug 19 a. pab. – 20 a. pr. Išskirtinę vietą analizuojamų dainų poetinių vaizdų sistemoje užima karių kapų, masinių bevardžių kapaviečių ir mirties be palaidojimo motyvai. Tyrimas atskleidė šių motyvų sąsajas tiek su istorine realybe (pvz., Pirmojo pasaulinio karo metu kareiviai dažnai buvo laidojami masinėse kapavietėse, o kai kada jų kūnai likdavo iš viso nepalaidoti), tiek su 19 a.–20 a. pr. lietuvių tradicinėje kultūroje vyravusiu požiūriu į mirtį ir laidotuves. ENThe article analyses death and funeral folklore images in late Lithuanian military historic songs that were created and became popular in the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century. By invoking the research of ethnicity, culture and folklore specialists, the natural and extreme (when a person perishes in the war, far away from home) death concepts in the Lithuanian folk tradition are compared. The late historical military songs feature the motifs of farewell and apologising, thus representing someone going to the war as a prospect of eternal farewell with the closest relatives. A specific realm of death in the songs is an image of battlefield which became a popular motif and complemented the general array of the field image meanings in folklore. From numerous realistic and naturalistic motifs of the songs one can distinct a specific poetic parallel of a bullet and a bee, found not only in Lithuanian but also in Latvian military songs. The death theme in the songs is often complemented by frequently emerging various religious images. The exceptional role in the system of poetic images of the analysed songs is occupied by the motifs of the soldier graves, mass nameless resting places and death without being buried. The research has revealed the links between these motifs both with the historical reality (for instance, during the First World War soldiers often were buried in mass graves, and sometimes their bodies remained not buried at all), both with the traditional Lithuanian attitude towards death and funeral prevailing in the traditional culture in the 19th- 20th centuries.
