ENThis article surveys burial sites and finds of the beginning of Early Roman Iron Age from Western Lithuania areas, which are parts of so called Memelkultur acc. to C. Engel. Artefacts and cemeteries of the first century AD are still too sparse to support separate studies of Coastal Lithuanian and Lower Nemunas areas. Nevertheless the material at our disposal is very “multicoloured”, reflecting local features of “late La Tène style“ and the new forms of the Early Roman period. The brooches from the Roman provinces and types of jewellery created in the neigbouring Germanic areas are an important ingredient of this cultural context. [academia.edu]
