LTNors Lietuvos archeologijos mokslo istorija okupaciniu laikotarpiu nepamiršta, o pagrindiniai faktai žinomi ir mokslinėje literatūroje aptarti, nacių valdymo periodas tirtas gana apibendrintai: problemos daugiausia pagrindžiamos istoriografijoje įsitvirtinusiais teiginiais, amžininkų atsiminimų santraukomis, spaudos straipsniais. Tad straipsnio pagrindiniu objektu tampa specifinė archeologijos istorijos tema – archeologijos paveldo reprezentacija ir apsauga 1941–1944 m. Būtent pažvelgti į archeologinio paveldo situaciją vokiečių valdymo metais skatina iki šiol archeologijos rėmuose sistemiškai nepristatyta išlikusi pagrindinių to meto kultūrinių institucijų, turėjusių priešistorinius skyrius – Vytauto Didžiojo kultūros muziejaus ir Vytauto Didžiojo karo muziejaus – dokumentacija. Taip ištyrus įstaigų veiklos medžiagą straipsnyje siekiama atskleisti Lietuvos archeologinio paveldo apsaugos būklę, sklaidą bei reprezentaciją Vytauto Didžiojo muziejuose nacių okupacijos laikotarpiu. Reikšminiai žodžiai: Vytauto Didžiojo kultūros muziejus, Vytauto Didžiojo karo muziejus, Priešistorinis skyrius, Lietuvos archeologija, nacių okupacija Lietuvoje, archeologinis paveldas, Pranas Kulikauskas, Rimutė Rimantienė, Pranas Baleniūnas, Vladas Nagevičius, Paulius Galaunė.
ENAlthough the history of Lithuanian archaeological science during the occupation period is not neglected, and the main facts are known and discussed in the scientific literature, the period of the Nazi rule has been studied in a somewhat generalised way: the problems are mainly based on the statements that have been established in the historiography, on the summaries of contemporaries’ memoirs, and on the press articles. Therefore, the main object of this article is a specific topic in the history of archaeology – the representation and protection of the archaeological heritage in 1941–1944. It is the surviving documents of the leading cultural institutions of the time, which had Prehistoric Departments - Vytautas the Great Cultural and War Museums, that have not been presented systematically in the field of archaeology so far, that encourage us to take a look at the situation of the archaeological heritage under the German government. By examining the documentation of these institutions, this article aims to reveal the state of protection and representation of Lithuania’s archaeological heritage in the Vytautas the Great Museums during the Nazi occupation. Keywords: Vytautas the Great Cultural Museum, Vytautas the Great War Museum, Prehistoric Department, Lithuanian archaeology, Nazi occupation of Lithuania, archaeological heritage, Pranas Kulikauskas, Rimutė Rimantienė, Pranas Baleniūnas, Vladas Nagevičius, Paulius Galaunė.
