ENThis paper is an introduction to the monograph of the most important - according to the author - Latin writers from Lithuania, writing from the 16th to 18th centuries. The main argument is enriched with numerous digressions, such as review of academic papers dealing with Lithuanian writers, which cover various aspects of the phenomenon called latinitatis, put them into academic circulation and cultural changes. The author treats writers writing in Latin within the borders of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as Lithuanian writers.
