ENRelevance of the topic determines the reform of Lithuanian higher education and the present day economic situation of the country, when education and training are seen as tools that help a person enter the labour market. Employers evaluate person's knowledge in a very different way: some value practical knowledge more, others – theoretical, having in mind that a person having more theoretical knowledge can easy apply them in practice. There is growing recognition that today's society needs qualified workers who have not only expertise, but also are able to flexibly adapt to changing conditions, work creatively and independently feeling responsibility for their performance. The latter ideas suggest, that a young person's preparation for professional activities is not only connected with rendering professional knowledge. Aim of the topic : determine full time students' of final year social competence changes peculiarities in the study process of Vilniaus Kolegija/UAC Faculty of Business Management, and foresee improvement possibilities. Objectives: carry out literature analysis; investigate social competence peculiarities, tendencies of changes in the study process; carry out comparative analysis; provide conclusions and suggestions how students' social competence could be improved.Research methods: Analysis of literature sources; Questionnaire method; Analysis of statistical data. Theoretical part of the thesis systemises and summarizes scientific literature sources, analyses social competence concept and structure. Analytical part deals with comparative aspect of students' social competences. Social competence similarities and differences based on the gender are being rendered. Conclusions suggest main analysis results, suggestions how social competence could be improved are presented. [From the publication]
