Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje, remiantis aukštojo mokslo kaitos iš elitinio į masinį – modernizavimo – charakteristikomis bei keturių koncepcijų: liberalaus aukštojo mokslo, paslaugų universiteto, demokratiško aukštojo mokslo bei tęstinio ugdymo – sąveikos rezultatais, teoriškai modeliuojami aukštojo mokslo tapimo masiniu proceso kriterijai, kurie leidžia ištirti, ar aukštasis mokslas įgauna šiuolaikinio masinio aukštojo mokslo bruožus. ENThe article discusses methodological aspects of research of the process shifting to the mass higher education against the background on modernization characteristics of the change from the elite to mass higher education and the interaction of the following four conceptions: liberal higher education, the service university, democratic higher education, and continuous education. As a result of reciprocity of the above-mentioned characteristics and conceptions, the criteria of the transition from the elite to mass higher education have been theoretically designed which allow to observe that the features of contemporary higher education are being based on the values of a post-industrial society. The first part of the article introduces research structure investigating the process of shifting to the mass higher education; the second part brings in the criteria which define mutual and equivalent interaction between higher education and society; the third part offers theoretically designed criteria revealing the drive of higher education to satisfy the needs of society for continuous education; the fourth part introduces the criteria which depict the relationship of higher education and the market in information and knowledge society.
