LTStraipsnio tikslas – pagal lietuvių akademinėje muzikoje aptinkamą medžio simboliką apibrėžti pagrindinius dėsningumus, susijusius su senaisiais lietuvių mitais, etninės kultūros reliktais ir dažniausiai minimais buities daiktais. Uždaviniai – aptarti ir palyginti ryškiausių akademinės muzikos kūrinių, susijusių su medžio simbolika, muzikos ypatybes, jas susieti su etninės muzikinės kultūros reiškiniais. Objektas – medžio vaizdiniai lietuvių akademinėje muzikoje. Metodai – analitinis, hermeneutinis, lyginamasis. Rezultatai - iškeliama hipotezė, kad medžio mitologema yra viena ryškiausių lietuvių akademinėje muzikoje, nulėmusi mitų, legendų naudojimo tradiciją ne tik sceniniuose lietuvių kompozitorių kūriniuose, bet ir smulkiuosiuose, turėjusi įtakos netgi populiariosios muzikos akademizavimui ir jos savitų žanrų užuomazgoms, muziką siejanti netgi su „muzikine“ tapyba (Mikalojaus Konstantino Čiurlionio Fuga, Miško muzika) bei kino menu ir jam pritaikoma muzika (Viačeslavo Ganelino roko opera Velnio nuotaka pagal Kazio Borutos apysaką Baltaragio malūnas). ENThe analysis of the conception of images of the tree in Lithuanian academic music has demonstrated that those images correlate with the mythological symbols and ancient myths (for instance, "Eglė - žalčių karalienė" (Eglė, the Queen of Grass-snakes), as well as tales that explain the significance and the meaning of relics and features of the ethnic culture that are going about to disappear from every-day life and usage. The images of the forest in Lithuanian culture correlate with the musical work of M.K. Čiurlionis (for example, the famous symphony poem "Miške" - "In the Forest") and with his "musical" painting (e.g., "Fuga", "Miško muzika''' - "Fugue", "The Music of the Forest"). Operas and ballets, which embody the myth of Eglė, reveal the closeness between the tree and the human being and unfold the mystical capability to transform one into another. The poetical images of the contemporary Lithuanian poetry, adopted and used in the titles of modem musical compositions, modify the ethnic nature of the neomodernist musical pieces (fore instance, "Medžių tyla" ("The Silence of the Trees"), "Miškas" ("The Forest"), "Putinas naktyje" ("The Snowball Tree in the Night"). In addition to this, in the scenography or cinematography of musical and theatrical compositions the theme of the tree is common, it supplements the action of the scene (for instance, B.Dvarionas' opera "Dalia", B. Kutavičius' opera "Ignis et fides" ("Fire and Faith"), V. Ganelinas' musical "Velnio nuotaka" ("The Devil's Bride").The significance of the ethnic wooden musical instrument, the reed-pipe ("birbynė"), as the key instrument in the whole musical composition, is often emphasized in musical pieces, such as D. Zakaras' composition "Putinas naktyje" ("The Snowball Tree in the Night"), A. Žigaitytė's opera-ballet "Žilvinas ir Eglė" ("Žilvinas and Eglė"). Occasionally, the name of the ethnic musical instrument becomes the title of the composition (for instance, N.Sinkevičiūtė's piece "Švilpynė" ("The Whistle"). Some pieces of popular music, supplemented with the mythical features of the tree, become more serious, they unfold distinctive images of ethnic identity, whereas other pieces of popular music, which have been composed with usual lyrics, correlate with the musical and rhythmical structure of global popular music. The number of images of the tree in the academic music is increasing and it is related to the ethnic identity of contemporary music and composers themselves. [From the publication]
