ENThe new threats of the regional security in the Eastern Europe, especially the conflict in the Eastern Ukraine, forced many European countries to re-evaluate and transform their defence systems. This applies especially to the Central and Eastern European countries: Poland and the Baltic States – Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Poland, following the experience of the Baltic States, implemented the new branch of armed forces– the Territorial Defence Forces. One of the finest examples of the efficient cooperation of the regular army forces with the conscripts and territorial units are the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The main goal of this article is to show the functioning of the National Volunteer Defence Forces in Lithuanian defence system.
