Summary / Abstract:

ENThe development of the culture of humanities is one of the state priorities in the field of education. When formulating the objectives of the education reform, a special emphasis was laid on the imperative to develop the learners’ conception that they are not only users of their native culture, but also creators, responsible for the development and preservation of culture. The Concept of National School states that a necessary precondition for the development of the individual’s spiritual life is the mother tongue. It is the essential feature of any nation and the uniqueness of its culture. Humanization of the curriculum, especially that of the native language, makes a great influence on the maturity of personality. Hence, the attitude and viewpoint of future teachers of the Lithuanian language and literature to their profession are undoubtedly very important. This article reviews the attitude of future teachers of the Lithuanian language and literature to their professional activities and the preconditions for pedagogical activities that seem significant to them.
