Zenonas Slaviūnas ir lietuvių etninė instrumentinė muzika

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjama žymaus lietuvių folklo risto Zenono Slaviūno veikla tiriant lietuvių liaudies instrumentinę muziką. Ją užrašinėdamas į fonografo plokšteles, rengdamas radijo laidas ir rašydamas straipsnius į populiariąją spaudą, Z. Slaviūnas paskelbė ir reikšmingus etninės instrumentolo gijos darbus. Studija „Lietuvių kanklės“ laikytina svarbiausiu tarpukariu, o pokario laikotarpiu Z. Slaviūnas atsidėjo vokalinių sutartinių nagrinėjimui. Instrumentinę polifoniją gvildeno tik šių tyrimų kontekste. Z. Slaviūno etninės instrumentologijos darbai turėjo didelę įtaką XX a. II pusės etnomuzikologų ir etnologų veiklai. Jie tebėra svarbūs ir XXI a. pradžios mokslui. Straipsnio objektas: iškilaus lietuvių folkloristo ir etnologo Zenono Slaviūno etnoinstrumentologiniai tyrimai ir kita su lietuvių etnine instrumentine muzika susijusi veikla ir darbai. Darbo tikslas: parodyti šios Slaviūno veiklos etapus: nuo susidomėjimo instrumentinės muzikos rinkimu ir fiksavimu garso įrašuose, populiarinimu radijo laidose ir viešojoje spaudoje iki rimtų mokslo studijų ir kitų darbų paskelbimo. Įvertinti jo, kaip etninės instrumentinės muzikos užrašinėtojo ir tyrėjo, įnašą į lietuvių etnomuzikologiją ir etnologiją. Darbo naujumas yra tas, kad čia pirmąkart nagrinėjamas Slaviūno indėlis į lietuvių etninės instrumentologijos mokslą. Tyrimo metodai: analizės, lyginamasis, apibendrinamasis. ENZenonas Slaviūnas (1907–1973), one of the most prominent Lithuanian folklorists of the 20th century, is most famous thanks to his investigations of polyphonic songs sutartinės. However, the subject of this article is his research in ethnoinstrumentology and other activities and works related to Lithuanian ethnic instrumental music. in scholarly activities of Slaviūnas, two stages could be discerned, lasting until and after 1941. in the course of the first stage, Slaviūnas was simultaneously active in several areas: he collected Lithuanian folklore and recorded it onto shellac discs, edited radio broadcasts and wrote articles for the popular press. on the radio, Slaviūnas used to introduce the Lithuanian ethnic instruments (the multi-pipe whistles skudučiai, five wooden trumpets ragai ‘horns’, longitudinal pipe lamzdelis, zither type instrument kanklės, dulcimer, fiddle, accordion, etc.), illustrating the music that was performed on these instruments by use of his phonograph recordings. In the popular press, the researcher focused on the problem of national character of folk music and musical instruments, which was particularly relevant in the interwar Lithuania. During this period, slaviūnas published his most important studies in ethnic instrumentology: “Lithuanian kanklės” (1937) and “Bow as the primitive Lithuanian musical instrument” (1939). He was the first in Lithuanian ethnomusicology to present a coherent and detailed study of the Lithuanian traditional kanklės and to describe the musical bow. The study on Lithuanian kanklės is the most important scientific work by Slaviūnas of the interwar period, therefore it is reasonable to conclude that in this time, he devoted most of his attention to investigations of Lithuanian ethnic musical instruments, rather than addressing himself to studies of sutartinės and other folksongs, or to folk narratives and customs.Since 1941, in the course of the second period of his research activities, Slaviūnas devoted most of his attention to investigations of vocal sutartinės, addressing issues of instrumental polyphony against their background. He was particularly interested in instrumental performances of the vocal sutartinės; therefore he did not pay detailed attention to investigation of the specific polyphony of multi-pipe whistles and five wooden trumpets. Highly professional works in ethnic instrumentology by slaviūnas considerably influenced the development of ethnomusicology and ethnology of the second half of the 20th century. They are still significant to the scholarly research of the beginning of the 21st century.
