Summary / Abstract:

LTPagrindinis šio straipsnio tikslas - trumpai apžvelgus bažnytinės dailės inventorizavimo būklę Lietuvoje nuo 1940 m. iki 2005 m., paskelbti per 2000-2005 m. inventorizavimą išaiškintus naujus duomenis apie Kaišiadorių vyskupijos bažnyčių didžiausią meninę, ikonografinę, tipologinę vertę turinčius paveldo objektus. Tokių duomenų išaiškinimas ir paskelbimas dar kartą įrodo dailės paveldo profesionalaus inventorizavimo būtinybę ir poreikį tęsti šią veiklą. ENThe key objective of this article is to provide a short review of the status quo in the Lithuanian sacral art inventory during the period between 1940 and 2005. This will be followed by the disclosure of new information regarding heritage objects of the highest artistic, iconographic, and typological value in the Kaišiadorys Diocese, discovered during the period 2000-2005. Discovery and disclosure of such information repeatedly prove the need for a professional inventory keeping system for art heritage and the requirement to continue these activities. The purposeful, territorial principle-based inventory keeping regarding objects of art was commenced in 1994, in the Centre for Cultural Heritage. Over the period between 2000 and 2005, specialists of the Centre for Lithuanian Cultural Heritage, in cooperation with art historians, performed activities within the framework of the programmes funded by the Department for the Protection and Conservation of Cultural Heritage, an inventory of objects of art that are kept in churches of the Kaišiadorys Diocese. In 2000, an inventory of objects kept in churches of the Žasliai, Žiežmariai, and Stakliškės Deaneries (over 1,500 objects were entered in the inventory list) was completed. In 2001, the inventory was completed in churches of the Alytus Deanery, and in 2003 further inventory keeping work was accomplished in a portion of churches under the Molėtai Deanery. In the year 2005, the final phase was completed, in which the rest of churches of the Diocese were covered by the inventory. During the process of inventory keeping, new works of art were discovered in churches of the Kaišiadorys Diocese (the majority of them represent movable values). These works covered a wide chronological period (from the 16th to the 20th centuries). Works of art completed during the 18th-20th centuries make up the most numerous and diverse works of art found in terms of the typology of sacral art values. A portion of them are typical works of art of an average or inconsiderable artistic value, such as samples of production from church manufactories, which just recently have been given some attention by art historians. However, quite a considerable number of newly discovered objects are very unique works of art and have a high artistic value thus contributing to the history of the Lithuanian sacral art of the 16th-20th centuries. The new works of art discovered in the process of inventory keeping enlarge our knowledge in this field of art history and are instrumental in studies in the field of art sponsorship, the import of art and also artistic relations. They are very informative and helpful when data are required to write biograms of artists who worked in Lithuania. Also, they can be instrumental in studies of Lithuanian culture development. The referred materials of the inventory keeping in churches of the Kaišiadorys Diocese will serve for the further building and improvement of the Register of Cultural Values. Such inventory also meets the relevant needs of the Lithuanian Catholic Church. [From the publication]
