Summary / Abstract:

ENThe article presents the results of the research on employees ’ attitude towards Age Management at regional university. The research was carried in the frame of the Baltic Sea Region Programme project Best Agers Lighthouses. The project aims to draw attention to the changing role of older people (55+) in the Baltic Sea economies that are confronted with the consequences of demographic change. The problem question of the research is: what is employees ’ attitude towards Age Management at regional university? The object of the research is Age Management elements at regional university. The aim of the research is to identify Age Management situation at regional university revealing employees ’ attitudes. The data were collected in June 2013. Data-collecting method is a respondents' survey in written form. The questionnaire includes such aspects as work engagement, motivation, health and age management practices that employees find present at their working place. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 11 software; descriptive statistics and multivariate statistical methods were applied. The research findings show that the situation of older employees is controversial: on the one hand, they better assess the quality of their work, more often notice a positive attitude and support of leadership, are more loyal to their organization, are more satisfied with the job, and more rationally control over changes. On the other hand, they face a reserved attitude of other age groups towards the competencies of older employees and their motivation to progress and learn. Respondents differ in opinion whether the organization ensures intergeneration learning and sharing competences within the knowledge management practices. Such scattering of opinions shows that there is no single organization policy on Age Management and the sharing of intergeneration competences is more spontaneous than organized.
