Summary / Abstract:

ENThis article deals with the analysis of the similarities and the differences of the late Heidegger’s thought and Zen’s thinking tradition. At the beginning of the article, the author briefly summarizes the importance of the transitivity, nature and the meditation practices in the Japanese Zen tradition. Afterwards, the author proceeds to the investigation of the state of calmness described by Heidegger and connects it with the Japanese zoan and koan meditation practices. In the Japanese Zen thought tradition and in the late Martin Heidegger’s philosophy the author highlights similar reflection on the relationships between a human and nature surrounding him as well as on an individual’s presence in the world. There shows up the similarity between the relation of the totality of nature in the Japanese Zen tradition as well as the tendency to the meditational relationship with the reality and Heidegger’s Sein as well as his studies on East thought traditions in his late works’ period. The author opposes the spontaneity, transitivity related to Zen’s mentality with Heidegger’s pre-planned abstract thought and his inclination to the eurocentric considerations by contrast. As a result of the comparative analysis, is revealed not only the immense effect of Zen’s thought tradition to the late Heidegger’s thought but also his certain inconsistency while solving the problems of the East and West mentalities dialogue.
