LTVilniaus universiteto ir kitų didžiųjų Lietuvos bibliotekų fonduose saugoma dalis Lietuvos didžiojo kunigaikščio ir Lenkijos karaliaus Žygimanto Augusto bibliotekos knygų. Šios knygos reikšmingos ne tik savo turiniu ar istoriniu aspektu, bet ir įrišimais, atspindinčiais Vakarų Europos ir Lietuvos Didžiosios kunigaikštystės renesanso epochos įrišų architektoniką ir stilistiką. VU bibliotekoje saugoma keturiolika Žygimanto Augusto knygų (20 pavadinimų veikalų). Remiantis šių ir kitų LDK valdovų bei didikų bibliotekų įrišų struktūra, viršelių dekoru, perteikiant esminius bruožus ir naudojant senąsias knygos įrišimo rankomis technologijas, straipsnyje pateikiama dokumentuota įrišo procesų eiga. Viršeliui dekoruoti naudojami kelių knygų spaudai ir puošybos elementai, rulečių įspaudai keičiami plokštelių spaudais, todėl įrišą galima vadinti istorine interpretacija. ENSome of the books of the library that belonged to the Grand Duke of Lithuania and King of Poland Sigismund Augustus are stored in the Vilnius University Library and other major Lithuanian libraries. These books are significant, not only because of their content or their historical aspects, but also because of their book bindings that reflect the architectonics and styles of the bindings of the Renaissance era of Western Europe and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Fourteen books (twenty work titles) that belonged to Sigismund Augustus are stored in the Vilnius University Library. The article presents a documented process of the bookbinding using ancient manual technologies. It conveys essential features, based on the structure and the cover art of these and other bindings from libraries of the rulers and the nobles of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The cover is decorated with several prints of books and decoration elements, wheel stamps are substituted by plate stamps therefore the bindings can be considered as historical interpretations.
