ENIn the paper the main features of development of science sociology are analyzed. The author maintains that the roots of the research of science as a phenomenon lie in the ideas of R. Merton, D. Bernal, G. Dobrov and others. The main trends of research in Lithuania science sociology are emphasised. The problems of scientific community and schools are underlined. Three periods in the development of science sociology in Lithuania are singled out: soviet (1969-1988), restructuring (1988-1990), national independence (1990-1998). The author notes on the importance of the relationship between scientific investigations and educational process. [From the publication]
