ENIn the present article, the authors discuss terms of male persons in Joniškis subdialects (Lithuania). The research material consists of two parts. The first one is the basic, encompassing 30 more frequent terms of male persons that were selected from an electronic version of the Dictionary of Contemporary Lithuanian Language (Dabartinės lietuvių kalbos žodynas); the second one encompasses more than 200 lexical units, i.e. different variants of terms of these persons that were recorded in the card file of the Dictionary of Joniškis Subdialects (Joniškio šnektų žodynas) being on the stocks. The material selected and classified was divided into 5 lexical groups: 1) terms of persons that define ties of blood (37); 2 terms of kinship (61); 3) terms of persons of different age (35); 4) terms of persons of a certain social status (58); 5) terms of persons of the level of culture and traditions (13). Terms of male persons of kinship and terms of persons that define ties of blood (in total - 98) split into 4 main groups according to the compositional aspect: suffixal derivatives, the biggest group of them consists of diminutive suffixes (the most productive of them are the following: -utis, -elis, -(i)ukas (senutis, vaikutis, žmogelis, broliukas), and -atisl-aitis, -ėlis, -(i)ukas, -ytis, -ytė (senelaitis, sūnelatis, tėvunatis I tėvunaitis, senutėlis, tėtušėlis, seneliukas, tetuliukas, tėveliukas, senulytis, senutytis), prefixal derivatives pa-, po-, prie-, pro-, į- (patėvis, posūnis, prievyris, proanūkis, įsūnis) flexion derivatives (sūnė) and compounds (brolvaikis, vienstipis, pusšvogeris).
