ENBattle of Orsha fought on 8 September 1514 was one of the largest pitched battles in the series of wars between Muscovy and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and a brilliant victory of Lithuanian-Polish forces. The exact place of the battle, however, is one of its most controversial issues. Undoubtedly, it was fought on the left bank of the Dnieper River, between the towns of Orsha (Orša) and Dubrovno (Dubroūna). The paper examines all the existing versions of the battle location, points out their defi ciencies and offers another one based on thorough analysis of written primary sources.
