ENWhen implementing the new European health policy, the strategy of the World Health Organization “Health for All in the 21st Century” as well as Lithuanian National Conception of Healthy Lifestyle, establishment of health culture becomes the priority field of Lithuanian health policy. It is relevant and purposeful to radically change the self-/development of health-related attitudes of students: the obtaining of knowledge, abilities and attitudes ensuring effective control of organism’s powers, maximally utilising physical and psychic capacities, becomes the major objective. Features of students’ point of view towards lifestyle are the object of this research. The aim is to theoretically ground and empirically investigate the expression of students’ health culture habits, singling out essential positions and dimensions in the age- and sex-specific contexts. It was aimed to define the multifunctional concept of health culture as part of public and individual’s common culture, to explore and assess the expression of students’ health culture habits in the sex- and age-specific aspects. When dealing with the research objectives, on the ground of theoretical insights, the conception of health culture has been revealed; the attitude of students, as a specific social group, towards health care has been explored and assessed, singling out the most important factors determining this phenomenon. The formulated conclusions emphasise students’ insufficient knowledge in the issues related to health care and its strengthening, acknowledgement of physical education as a factor forming health culture. It has been proved that students pay insufficient attention to activeness of movement, habits of proper nutrition, regimen of sleep, rational time management.Only approximately half of the first year students and approximately one third of the fourth year students recognise that they have developed the attitudes to cope with difficulties in life, are ready to assume responsibility for their life. Therefore, the striving to develop students’ need for healthy lifestyle, to convince them in the necessity to obtain knowledge, abilities and attitudes ensuring effective control of organism’s powers, gaining high level of health culture become the urgent task.
