Summary / Abstract:

Tokios prielaidos viduriniajame neolite (IV tūkst. pr. Kr.) galėjo susidaryti Vidurio Lietuvos regione, nors hipotezei pagrįsti ar atmesti kol kas trūksta empirinių duomenų. Vėlyvajame neolite teritorinis pasiskirstymas tarp agrarinio ir miškų neolito visuomenių matomas jau pakankamai aiškiai. Žemdirbių visuomenės atsiradimo Lietuvoje problemos sprendimas būtų svarbus neolitizacijos plėtros proceso Europoje tyrinėjimams.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Neolitizacija; Ūkis; Žemdirbių bendruomenė; Medžiotojų-žvejų bendruomenė; Piltuvėlinių taurių kultūra; Neolithisation; Economy; Agricultural community; Hunting-fishing community; Funnel Beaker Culture.

ENThe beginning of the Stone Age saw the emergence and development of a qualitatively new farming forms, i.e. land cultivation and stock raising. It has not been exactly estimated when and where in Lithuania early land cultivating communities emerged and who were those first land cultivators and what relations they had with fishermen and hunters. The article aims at expanding the discussion of those questions and the review of the main current archaeological attitudes towards the neolithisation and its development in Europe. Agrarian (productive farming traditions) and Forest Neolithic (husbandry farming traditions) communities had totally different economy traditions. Elements of the productive farming integrated into the economy of fishing and farming communities did not fundamentally change the essence of their economy traditions, and thus they are not considered to be a transition phase to another farming system. The review of the existing attitudes towards the reasons of the development of the Neolithisation period brought to a conclusion that fishing and hunting communities could have turned to land cultivation due to a number of premises, i.e. suitable natural environment, proper knowledge and technological means and sufficient motivation. Those premises in the Middle Neolithic period (4th millennium BC) could have formed in Central Lithuania, however, yet, there are no empirical data to prove or deny this hypothesis. The Late Neolithic is notable for a rather clear distinction between Agrarian and Forest Neolithic communities. The explanation of the issue of the emergence of land cultivators in Lithuania could be a significant aspect of the research of the development of the Neolithisation process in Europe.
