Summary / Abstract:

ENThis study presents a stylometric analysis of a corpus of transcribed Lithuanian Parliamentary speeches for the purpose of exploring them according to their political orientation (left-center-right). The methods of computer-aided stylometry applied in the research allow us to describe and explain the connection between the author’s psychological and sociological attributes and to analyze his/her style. In this research, political orientation is treated as an attribute/feature exhibited by the members of Parliament under analysis; i.e., the perspective is stylistic and distinguishes between styles of the political left, political center, and political right. The results of the research show that the verbal expressions peculiar to a political orientation range very widely and make a difference to the vocabulary used in Parliamentary debates.
