Jurijus Stepanovas ir lietuvių kalbotyra

ENThe aim or this article is to reveal the meaning of Linguistic scientific ideas of Jurij Stepanov to theorethical Lithuanian linguistics. Jurij Stepanov was the pioneer of a new philosophical branch of the language named the “new realism“. The importance of these ideas is not revealed to Lithuanian linguistics yet. It is important to establish to which degree of linguistics the Lithuanian examples are used more often. Jurij Stepanov was the supervisor of the scientific research works of Lithuanian linguists, and an oponent of several research works of habilitation in Lithuania. It is important to reveal how Lithuanian examples are being used in order to discuss problems of the general linguistics, semiotic, historical morphology, historical accentology, lexical semantics, etc. The research showed that the linguistic ideas of Jurij Stepanov were important to form separate linguistic branches, such as historical morphology, historical accentology, lexical semantics etc. Several linguistic terms like catalysis, implication, determinatin, complementary distribution, semantics, semasiology etc. where explained using the material of Lithuanian. The author's greatest contribution is that not only did he use Lithuanian material, but he also promoted it at the highest level of research of the Baltic, Slavic, and Indo- European languages.
