ENThe author of the article is interested in the manuscript ‘Pagan Dialects from Narew’. There is a dictionary of 200 Polish words translated into an unestablished Baltic dialect. Most of the linguists working in the field of comparative linguistics claim, that Polish words are translated into the Yotvingian language. The author of the article tries to define the borders of the territory inhabited by the Yotvingian tribes. He also presents the characteristic features of the Yotvingian language and provides a number of examples. The features are as follows: - the preservation of diphthong ei, which was changed into ie in Lithuanian and Latvian - consonants s, z which correspond with š, ž in Lithuanian (Berznykas) - sound changes involving the formation of palatal consonants t-d into к-g (jaukeliai - jauteliai, žogis - žodis) - sound changes of soft consonants š‘, ž‘, č\ dž‘, s‘, z‘, r‘, l' - accented inflexion -us in the place names (Alytus).
