Lietuvos demokratinis diskursas: politologinės jungtys, istorinės sankirtos : recenzija

LTRecenzijoje pristatoma S.Šiliausko monografija „Demokratijos refleksija Lietuvos politinėje mintyje 1918-1940“. Teigiama, kad monografija yra vienas pirmųjų bandymų atlikti teorinį tyrimą pasirenkant netradicinę prieigą: demokratijos sampratos sklaida tarpukario Lietuvoje vertinama remiantis moderniomis demokratijos teorijomis. Monografijoje nagrinėjama, kaip Lietuvos krikščionių demokratų, liaudininkų, socialdemokratų, tautininkų ideologai sprendė laisvės ir lygybės dilemą, aptariamas liberalizmo ir demokratijos santykių suvokimas tarpukario Lietuvoje. Analizuojamos lietuviškojo nacionalizmo, valstybingumo ir demokratijos sąryšio politologinės refleksijos, aptariami politinės valdžios ir masių sąveikos aktualijų apmąstymai. Konstatuojama, kad nei akademinė, nei publicistinė mintis tarpukariu neišvengė antidemokratinio elitarizmo ir antielitarinio demokratizmo konflikto, nesugebėjo į politinį diskursą įtraukti konkurencinės elitarinės demokratijos principų, diskusijos turinį lėmė modernizacijos vėlavimą reprezentuojantys veiksniai, politinę mintį varžė pilietiškumo ir tautiškumo kolizija. Pažymima, kad negausias metodologines to meto inovacijas reprezentuoja S.Šalkauskio, P.Leono ir M.Romerio idėjos. Recenzijos autorius apibendrina, jog tyrimas, atliktas remiantis moderniomis demokratijos teorijomis, neišvengė kai kurių tiesmukiškų analogijų ir pernelyg modernaus kai kurių idėjų interpretavimo, stinga retroanalizės būdų ir metodų išskleidimo, tuometinio idėjinio konteksto; nepaisant to, monografija – įdomus ir reikšmingas tyrimas, atliktas remiantis nestandartine prieiga.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Politinė mintis; Liberali demokratija; Autoritarizmas; Political thought; Liberal democracy; Authoritarianism.

ENThe review presents Saulius Šiliauskas’ monograph “Reflections on Democracy in Lithuanian Political Thought in 1918-1940”. The monograph examines how the ideologues of the Christian Democrats, the Populists, the Social Democrats and the Nationalists addressed the dilemma of freedom and equality and discusses the understanding of the relations between liberalism and democracy in interwar Lithuania. It analyses the insights of the political science on the interconnectedness of the Lithuanian nationalism, statehood and democracy and discusses some thoughts on the interaction between the political power and the masses. It is found that the ideas of both the academia and the publicists in the interwar period were enmeshed in the conflict between the anti-democratic elitism and the anti-elitist democracy. They could not introduce the principles of competitive elitist democracy into the political discourse; the discussion was defined by the factors representing modernisation lags and the political thought was circumscribed by the collision between civic and ethnic nationalism. It is noted that the ideas of Stasys Šalkauskis, Petras Leonas and Mykolas Romeris represented the exiguous methodological innovations of that period. The author of the review concludes that the study performed on the basis of the modern theories of democracy has not avoided some overstretched analogies and an exceedingly modern interpretation of some ideas and that an elaboration of the techniques and methods of retro-analysis is lacking. Nevertheless, the monograph is an interesting and important study based on an original approach.
