Summary / Abstract:

LTLietuvos Lenino komunistinio jaunimo sąjunga priklausė Visasąjunginei Lenino komunistinio jaunimo sąjungai, Sovietų Sąjungos organizacijai, kurios nariais tapdavo 14–28 m. jaunuoliai. Kai 1989 m. Reikšminiai žodžiai: Ideologija; Komjaunimas; Komjaunimo CK; Komunistai funkcionieriai; Lietuvos komjaunimas; Lietuvos komjaunimo elitas; Cekomol; Communist functionaries; Ideology; Komsomol; Lithuanian komsomol elite; Lithuanian's Komsomol; Lituanian komsomol.

ENThe Leninist Young Communist League of Lithuania belonged to the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League, an organization of the Soviet Union, members of which were young people aged 14-28. In 1989 at the summit of the Leninist Young Communist League of Lithuania a decision was made to break away from the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League, and the autonomous organization was renamed to the Young Communist League of Lithuania. In this article the Young Communist League of Lithuania is viewed as a medium of social mobility, and it examines the bureaucratic career choices of young communists. The study is limited to representatives of the generation born after the Second World War, who were chosen to complement the ranks of the Lithuanian Communist elite. Based on qualitative studies and interview material, the article examines how the former representatives of the Young Communist League explain their career opportunities at the beginning of the post-communist period, at the time when the independent state of Lithuania was restored, and those persons closely associated with the former communist regime became increasingly stigmatized group in society. The observation how the interviewees describe their decisions in the categories of "entrance", "exit" and "return" give valuable insights into the subjective structure of social mobility. Regarding the fact that the majority of informants, speaking about their first work in the post-communist period, used the "exit" perspective, this chapter refers to the exit from communism rather than the entry into the post-communist reality.
