Summary / Abstract:

LTKnygnešystė – tai svarbi (XIX a. II pusės) skaitytojų bendrijos teikėja, formavusi, auklėjusi tuometinį adresatą. XIX a. XIX a. Straipsnyje akcentuojami šie klausimai: 1) kokią įtaką knygnešystė bei knygnešių paskleistoji lektūra padarė anuometiniam kaimui (adresato formavimo aspektas); 2) lietuviškos knygos kaip švietėjiško „įrankio" universalioji misija telkiant XIX a. skaitytojų bendriją. Knygnešystė XIX a.

ENBook-carrying was an important aspect of provision to the reading community in the second half of the 19th century, which formed and educated the addressee. The 19th century Europe (including Lithuania) saw a wide development of communication employing printed mass media. The unique phenomenon of book-carrying may be viewed not only as a historical, political, socio-cultural, but also as a specifically literary communication phenomenon. The 19th century in Lithuania was the age of both alphabetization and development of literary media and the reading community. The article emphasizes the following issues: 1) the influence of book-carrying and book-carriers on the rural community of the time (the addressee formation aspect); 2) the universal mission of the Lithuanian book as an educational tool when developing the 19th century reading community. In the cultural communication of 19th century Lithuanian book-carrying performed the following two main tasks: educated the Lithuanian peasants to read, changed the rural persons’ mentality and developed the reading community; by disseminating the religious, educational and didactic literature, developed indirect public communication among Lithuanian peasants; book-carrying also performed the specific function of development and encouragement of the literary media. Dissemination of fiction works by Lithuanian and foreign authors helped to develop respect to a printed word and a literary text.
