ENUntil the beginning of 21st century the main object of Lithuanian paremiological research was the corpus of old, so called traditional paremias. Only in the last decade has some interest in modern usage Lithuanian paremias emerged. Now we can say that in the 21st century, characterized by modern technologies, urban culture, and globalization, the genre of Lithuanian paremias is still alive and viable; it not only continues to interest people today as an exotic heritage, but is also useful as a relevant and convenient means of communication in modern life. This chapter aims to review various types of Lithuanian paremias, currently used in modern communication – so-called traditional paremias, anti-paremias and new paremical sayings, as well as the spheres of usage of Lithuanian paremias. I would like to show some national features despite the international nature of modern paremiological phenomena and also point out the huge impact that the bigger nations (cultures) have on the smaller ones. The possibilities of visualization of Lithuanian paremias on the Internet, as well as in other areas will be presented.
