Summary / Abstract:

Tai tyrimų centralizacija, internacionalizacija, unifikacija, bene aiškiausiai simbolizuojama The International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania veiklos. Antroje straipsnio dalyje, nuosekliai remiantis Hannah Arendt įžvalgomis ir pasitelkus konkrečius pavyzdžius apie Shoah lietuviškąsias priežastis, rekonstruojamos ir kritiškai interpretuojamos trys (abejotinos teorinės vertės ir neabejotinos ideologinės kilmės) pamatinės istoriografinės prielaidos. Pirmoji jų – moderniojo antisemitizmo tapatinimas su krikščioniškąja judeofobija (Knut Stang), antroji – „lietuviškojo antisemitizmo“ kaip radikalios „lietuviškojo nacionalizmo“ atmainos konstruktas (Michael MaQueen), trečioji – tokio antisemitizmo tiesioginio postūmio masinėms žydų žudynėms tezė (Liudas Truska). Nepriimti tokios „amžinojo antisemitizmo“ dogmos tyrėjui kartu reikštų ir parodyti žmogišką pagarbą milijonams išžudytų Europos žydų. ENThe paper analyses a complicated phenomenon found at the intersection of the history science, the living historical memory and specific history policy projects: Shoah of the Jews in the present-day Lithuanian historiography. Following the opening statement about a tendency of this historiography to limit itself to the “Lithuanian-Jewish relations”, the paper identifies its artificiality and a lack of theoretical grounding. Upon summarising the trends (first of all, German and Anglo-Saxon) of the universal Holocaust historiography of several decades, the focus is shifted on the changes and specifics of the “Lithuanian Holocaust” studies from the last 5–10 years. These include centralisation, internationalisation and unification that are most clearly symbolised by the activities of the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania. The second part of the paper, consistently based on Hannah Arendt’s insights and concrete examples of the Lithuanian causes of Shoah, reconstructs and critically interprets three basic historiographic assumptions (of questionable theoretical value and of unquestionable ideological origin). The first one is the identification of modern anti-Semitism with the Christian Judeophobia (Knut Stang), the second one is a construct of “Lithuanian anti-Semitism” as a variety of the radical “Lithuanian nationalism” (Michael MaQueen) and the third one is a thesis of the direct impulse of such anti-Semitism for mass murder of the Jews (Liudas Truska). Denying the dogma of “eternal anti-Semitism” by the investigator would also mean showing human respect to millions of Jews killed in Europe.
