Questioning the higher education of a country in transition on its way to the knowledge economy

LTStraipsnyje siekiama atskleisti tuos aukštojo mokslo ypatumus, kurie gali palengvinti žinių ekonomikos sėkmingą raidą pereinamojo laikotarpio šalyje, šiuo atveju – Lietuvoje. Pirmoje straipsnio dalyje analizuojami aukštojo mokslo ypatumai, kurie leistų pereinamojo laikotarpio šaliai siekti žinių ekonomikos bendradarbiaujant su išsivysčiusiomis šalimis (pvz., kuriant naujus ryšius tarp aukštojo mokslo ir visuomenės, tarp atskirų mokslo šakų ir kt.). Antroje straipsnio dalyje šie ypatumai analizuojami Lietuvos aukštojo mokslo reformos atžvilgiu. Remiantis atliktu pilotiniu tyrimu, atskleidžiamas protų nutekėjimo fenomenas ir jį sukėlusios priežastys.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Aukštasis mokslas.

ENThe article aims to identify specific features of higher education that enable successful evolution of knowledge economy in a transition period country, in this case – Lithuania. The first part of the article analyzes specific features of higher education, which would enable a transition period country aspirations to create knowledge economy by cooperating with developed countries (for example, by creating new connections between higher education and the society, among separate science branches and so on).The second part of the article analyzes these specific features from the perspective of Lithuanian higher education reform. On the basis of a performed pilot project, the author casts light on the brain drain phenomenon and points out reasons underlying it.
