Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnio tikslas – išryškinti valstybinės religijos bruožus XIII a. Lietuvoje. Tai daroma analizuojant laidoseną, senąsias šventvietes bei šaltinius apie lietuvių religiją, pasitelkiant archeologijos, istorijos ir mitologijos šaltinius. Politinės valstybės kūrimas ir valstybinės religijos formavimasis XII-XIII a. vyko sinchroniškai. Ryškiausia XIII a. valstybinės religijos apraiška – mirusiųjų deginimo tradicija ir laidojimas plokštiniuose kapinynuose. Pastariejui sudarė sudėtinį XIII a. Lietuvos valstybinių dievų modelį. Valstybės suvereno ir jį supančio elito (leičių) religinę tradiciją apibūdina Šventaragio mitinių reikšmių kompleksas. Valstybinio kulto vietos politiniuose centruose buvo įkurtos XIII a. pirmoje pusėje-viduryje. Mitas apie kunigaikštį Šventaragį (naujo laidojimo ritualo ir kulto steigėją) detalizuoja, kaip turėjo būti deginami elito atstovų kūnai. Tai atskleidžia ryšį tarp Šventaragiais vadinamų šventviečių ir valstybės elito laidojimo ritualo. Tikėtina, kad pagrindiniai valstybinės religijos bruožai gyvavo iki pat Lietuvos krikšto 1387 m.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Andajus; Laidojimo papročiai; Leičiai; LDK XIII amžius; Mitologija; Pagonybė; Perkūnas; Sovijus; Teliavelis; Valstybinė religija; Vilnius; Šventaragis; Šventvietė; Žvorūna; Andajus; Funeral rites; Lithuania; Mythology; Paganism; Perkūnas; Sacred site; Sovius; Teliavelis; The Grand Duchy of Lithuania, 13th century; The Leičiai; The paganism; The state religion; Vilnius; Šventaragis; Žvorūna.

ENThe article aims to highlight features of the state religion in Lithuania in the 13th century. This is performed by analysing a pattern of burial, old holy sites and sources of Lithuanian religion, and by using archaeological, historical and mythological sources. Establishment of a political state and formation of the state religion in the 12th–13th century happened simultaneously. The clearest manifestation of the 13th-century state religion was a tradition of cremating the dead and burial in laminar necropolises. The relationship between a uniform pattern of burial and the model of sovereign gods is indicated in the “programme” of the state religion, the myth of Sovius. It states that Sovius announced the custom of cremating the dead so that sacrifices would be offered to Andojas, Perkūnas, Kalvelis and Žvėrūna. They made up a composite model of Lithuania’s state gods of the 13th century. The religious tradition of a state sovereign and the elite (leičiai) that surrounded him is defined by the complex of Šventaragis mythical meanings. Sites of the state cult in political centres were set up in the first half and the middle of the 13th century. A myth of Duke Šventaragis (founder of a new burial ritual and cult) details how bodies of members of the elite had to be cremated. This reveals a relationship between holy sites called “Šventaragis” and the ritual of burying the state elite. The main features of the state religion were likely to exist until the very Christianization of Lithuania in 1387.
