ENThe purpose of structuring terminological dictionaries is to convert the printed form of terminological entries into the form of electronic databases. The method of this conversion is tagging terminological data. The current article deals with the problem of structuring term lines. It is related with the use of punctuation marks in term lines in printed terminological dictionaries. The comma may be part of the term, a delimiter between the main term and a synonym, and a delimiter between synonyms. In some cases the comma may be a delimiter between two main terms. The semicolon usually is a delimiter between two main terms, but in some cases - between two synonyms. The brackets usually are a delimiter of an optional word or part of a word, but in some cases the brackets are a delimiter between alternate words or a delimiter of term note. The square brackets usually are a delimiter of alternate synonymous words of terms. The slash usually is a delimiter between alternate words, and in some cases - part of a term. The full terms can be synonymous or main. Thus, the mistakes of the term line are conditioned by the polysemous use of punctuation marks and the economy of dictionary entries. There are no officially approved instructions or standards in Lithuanian terminography. [text from author]
