Summary / Abstract:

Reikšminiai žodžiai: Rizikos grupės vaikai; Teritorinis monitoringas; Individualus darbas; Risk group of children; Territorial monitoring; Individual work.

ENThe article analyses the experience of individual work with at-risk children and adolescents. In order to describe the main aspects of individual work with children and adolescents infringing the standard of conduct, the territorial monitoring of the prevention of violations of law and order by children and adolescents carried out in Motiejus Šimelionis Secondary School in Lentvaris, Trakai District, is briefly summarised. The school uses a computer register which helps to systematically study children and adolescents, while entering all necessary and relevant information into the register. The data of the register show that the territorial monitoring covers: 67 % of children and adolescents infringing the standard of conduct from time to time, 21 % of children and adolescents infringing the standard of conduct systematically, and 19 % of delinquent children and adolescents. The article presents specific examples and provides conclusions. When individually working with children and adolescents infringing the standard of conduct from time to time, traditional means of pedagogical work (talks, discussions, etc.) are sufficient because these individuals under study are most often naïve and have no life experience. Most frequently, these are pupils of primary school grades. When individually working with children and adolescents infringing the standard of conduct systematically, traditional means of pedagogical work are not always effective. Therefore, in addition to means of pedagogical work, non-traditional means (events, video films, posters, “The Programme of Values”, etc.) are used. Communication games are most effective of them. It not only helps to quickly establish contacts, but also to transfer important information necessary for the individuals under study. Early prevention is most effective in working with children and adolescents infringing the standard of conduct.
