Žydiškas Vilnius: kaip jį suprantame? Paveldosauginiai diskursai

LTŠiandienis „Lietuvos Jeruzalės“ vaizdinys nėra kokybiškai naujas, jis atkartoja tarpukariu suformuotus miesto svarbos Lietuvos žydijai motyvus. Pažymėtina, kad prie Vilniaus svarbos Lietuvai formuluočių prisidėjo ir žydų kilmės intelektualai. Tarpukario Kaune buvo išgryninta simbolinė miesto reikšmingumo schema, dabar tapusi kalbėjimo apie Vilniaus žydus ir kultūrą etalonu, „Lietuvos Jeruzalės“ turiniu. Žydiško Vilniaus vertes, matyt, net labiau nei bet kurios kitos su miestu besisiejančios etninės ar religinės bendruomenės, sudaro ne tik materialiojo paveldo objektai, bet ir išskirtinė mitologizuota miesto aura, pozityvūs pakylėti jausmai ir gyvenimą šioje išskirtinėje vietoje sužlugdęs holokaustas. Si visuma apsunkina svarstymus apie žydiško Vilniaus turinio ir jo paveldo verčių supratimą. Neseniai pradėjo klostytis kelios miesto erdvės suvokimo dimensijos, skirtingai aktualios tiems, kurie turi vilnietiškas ar lietuviškas šaknis, ir tiems, kurie, neturėdami išankstinio vaizdinio, atvyksta į miestą, grįžusį į žydiškąją geografiją. Atvykstančiuosius vienija tai, kad jų Vilnius jau nebe toks kaip tų, kurie paliko jį išgyvenę Antrąjį pasaulinį karą. Šiandienos Vilniaus senamiestyje turime ydingą situaciją, kai galima aplankyti Didįjį ir Mažąjį nacistinius žydų getus, tačiau istorinis su XVI a. pab. sietinas žydų kvartalas nėra įpaveldintas. Žydiškasis Vilniaus paveldas ir jo pateikimo formos reprezentuoja Lietuvos visuomenės, o ne žydų bendruomenės supratimą ir poreikius, jis turi būti išnaudojamas mūsų pačių tapatybei ir daugiakultūriškumo vertėms išryškinti.

ENToday’s image of “Lithuanian Jerusalem” is not new in terms of quality, as it echoes the motives of urban importance for the Lithuanian Jewish community that had been formed during the inter-war period. It is worth mentioning that Jewish intellectuals have contributed to the formulation of the importance of Vilnius to Lithuania. In the inter-war Kaunas a symbolic scheme of urban significance was crystallised, which has now become a reference for talks about Vilnius Jews and their culture, the content of “Lithuanian Jerusalem”. Apparently, the values of Jewish Vilnius, more than of any other ethnic or religious community of the city, are comprised of not only objects of material heritage but also of a distinct mythologized aura of the city, positive and elated feelings and the Holocaust, which destroyed lives in such a distinct place. All of this has made considerations about the content of the Jewish Vilnius and the values of its heritage all the more difficult. Recently, several dimensions of understanding the spaces of the city have formed, which bear a different significance for those who are of the Vilnius or Lithuanian origin, and for those, who come to the city that has found its place back in the Jewish geography without any visual notion, formed in advance. People who come to Vilnius are related by the fact that their Vilnius differs from Vilnius of those who fled from it after World War II. In the present Vilnius old-town a flawed situation has formed, when one can visit the Big and the Small Nazi Jewish ghetto, however, the historic Jewish quarter, dated back to the end of the 16th century, is not considered as a heritage. The Jewish heritage of Vilnius and the forms of its presentation represent the understanding and demands of the Lithuanian society, and not of the Jewish community; therefore, it must be used to highlight our own identity and multicultural values.
