Summary / Abstract:

LTAutorė knygoje kelia du pagrindinius uždavinius: atskleisti Barboros Radvilaitės gyvenimo istoriją, atskiriant ją nuo legendų, ir dailėtyriniu aspektu išnagrinėti visus iki šiol žinomus jos portretus, restauruojant kiek įmanoma identiškesnį legendinės istorinės asmenybė paveikslą, pažymėdama, kad Barboros Radvilaitės gyvenimo istoriją gerokai temdo prieštaringi jos vertinimai tiek istoriniuose šaltiniuose, tiek publicistikoje ir literatūroje. Pirmoje knygos dalyje nušviečiamas Barboros Radvilaitės epochos istorinis fonas, aiškinama jos genealogija, santykiai su ją supusia aplinka, aptariamos to laikotarpio svarbiausios asmenybės, jų įamžinimas meno kūriniuose. Antrojoje dalyje pristatomi seniausi išlikę Barboros Radvilaitės portretai nuo XVI a., 1548 metais ant skardos nutapyto jos portreto, saugomo Krokuvos nacionaliniame muziejuje. Lygiagrečiai su įvairių išlikusių Barboros Radvilaitės portretų aprašymu, analizuojamos portretinės tapybos Lietuvoje ir Europoje ypatybes.. Trečiojoje dalyje analizuojami XIX a. atvaizdai ir kūriniai, nepagrįstai priskiriami Barboros Radvilaitės asmeniui. Autorė kruopščiai demaskuoja pasakojimus apie Aušros Vartų Madonoje įamžintus Žygimanto Augusto žmonos bruožus kaip dar vieną su Barboros Radvilaitės asmeniu siejamą legendą, kartu pažymėdama, kad tokių legendų gausybė liudija Barboros Radvilaitės istoriją tebejaudinant ir nūdienę visuomene. Knygos pabaigoje autorė pateikia Vytauto Urbanavičiaus atkurto dokumentinio Žygimanto Augusto žmonos portreto analizę ir vertinimą.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Atvaizdai; Autentiškumas; Barbora Radvilaitė; Gyvenimo istorija; Ikonografija; Portretai; Portretas; Authenticity; Barbara Radvilaitė; Barbora Radvilaitė; Iconography; Life history; Pictures; Portrait; Portraits.

ENThe author of the book sets two objectives: to reveal the life history of Barbara Radziwiłł by separating her from legends and to analyse all known portraits of her from the artistic point of view by achieving as identical portrait of this legendary person as possible. The author notes that the life history of Barbara Radziwiłł is considerably shadowed by controversial evaluations of her in historical sources as well as in various publications and literature. The first part of the book reveals the historical context of the epoch of Barbara Radziwiłł by presenting her genealogy, her relations with the surrounding environment and discussing the major personalities of that epoch and presentation thereof in works of art. The second part presents the oldest portrait of Barbara Radziwiłł survived since the 16th century, i.e. her portrait produced in 1548 and kept in the National Museum in Cracow. Along with descriptions of various portraits of Barbara Radziwiłł, which have survived until the present time, peculiarities of portrait painting in Lithuania and Europe are analysed. The third part is concerned with images and works of the 19th century, which are unreasonably considered to be devoted to Barbara Radziwiłł. The author coherently denounces a legend, which claims that the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Gate of Dawn has features of the wife of Sigismund Augustus, and she emphasises that the abundance of such legends proves the life history of Barbara Radziwiłł to be still relevant and attracting in the modern society. An analysis and evaluation of the documentary portrait of the wife of Sigismund Augustus recovered by Vytautas Urbanavičius are presented at the end of the book.
