Summary / Abstract:

Dvarų išsaugojimas be valstybės paramos neįmanomas.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Dvarų paveldas; Parkai; Rūmai; Polichromija; Aštrioji Kirsna; Rudamina; Manor heritage; Park; Manor house; Polychromy; Aštrioji Kirsna; Rudamina.; Paveldosauga; Paveldas; Architektūros; Raida; Išsaugojimas; Atkūrimas; Nuosavybė; Privati; Savininkai; Tyrimai; Archeologiniai; Polichromija; Dvarai; Parkai; Heritage; Manor; Garden; Reseach.

ENThe article discusses the state of manor heritage protection in Lithuania after the restoration of the Lithuanian state. It focuses on two manors - Aštrioji Kirsna and Rudamina - currently in private property and includes a thorough analysis of their historic development as well as the possibilities of their protection and adaptation for todays needs. In addition to this, the readers are introduced to the results o f historic and archaeological research and polychromic tests. The manor of Aštrioji Kirsna is a large 19th century complex of representative and household buildings with a park and a well-developed basin system. Nineteen historic buildings have survived until present; four of them have been restored while the others are in a critical condition. The manor has a single owner whose main concern is fundraising for the restoration. It is natural and fair that manors are generally subject to standard requirements o f cultural heritage protection. However, manor conservation, scientific research, restoration and adaptation to the present needs are very costly and thus unaffordable for many private manor owners. Manor protection is impossible without the financial support of the state; yet the amount of funds budgeted for this purpose is inadequate to the needs. Regarding the manor of Rudamina, only parts of it have survived: the current composition includes the central palace, fragments of two household buildings and a derelict park with a pond.A shared ownership of private parties really complicates the possibilities of restoration. Nevertheless, the owner of the central palace is hoping to gain sole ownership in the future and restore the integrity of the manor and engage in cultural educative activities Lithuanian manors are a vital part of the regional heritage: for several hundreds of years they composed a distinctive structure of the state - the so-called historic manor system - which relates directly to the development of Lithuanian agriculture and statehood, as well as the spread o f elite and trivial culture. Finally, though many different levels of legal acts partially regulate the protection of manor heritage, the present legal base and financial state support do not ensure realistic safeguards for the historic manors.
