ENIn the archive of the history of the Lithuania State, fund 443, there is a selection consisting of three cases (ap. 1, b. 78,79,80) which concern the Salantai domains in Samogitia. The article was written and the publication was prepared by making reference to the two cases (79,80), in which were inscribed, almost year by year, the inventories of the Salantai domain from 1765 to 1815. In the book that includes the 1765 - 1784 period, the governor of the estate Jozef Kuczynski briefly recorded every year the amount and manner of income received from the town and villages, (he would write down all the owners of the farmsteads and the sum of their dues and also who paid), mills, taverns and the like. He would also record the amount of salaries paid and to who the salaries were paid. Throughout the entire period he would make note every day of all the outgoings and note to whom the payments were made, he also recorded the nature of the goods he paid for. Even the smallest expenses of the mistress of the estate, Ona Vainiene, and her granddaughters, Gorskytes, were recorded. The recordings of income and expenses carried on even after the death of the owner in 1784, although not as meticulously as before. These records allow us great insight into the lifestyle of a middle rung estate in Samogitia in the 2nd half of the 18th century, and also events and certain relationships between people and even the manner in which preparations were made for death. While preparing this text some of the testaments and letters of the owners of the domain were used.Various translations of the extracts from Polish into Lithuanian are given. These were taken from the aforementioned books of income and expenses of the estate. These translated extracts, in the opinion of the author, reveal the various sides of the life of this estate (cultural life, everyday life, work, health etc) during the 2nd half of the 18th century.
