Rytų ir vakarų kultūrų sankryžoje: kontušo juostos
LTRytų, paskui ir Vakarų tekstilės motyvų bei įvairiopų raiškos būdų perėmimas ne tik nenubraukia Lietuvoje, Lenkijoje, kitose šalyse austų kontušo juostų meninės vertės, bet žymiai sąlygoja ir lemia jų stiliaus savaimingumą. Juk beveik visų tautų ir laikų ornamentas yra įvairiakilmis ir šios rūšies audiniai ne išimtis. Antra vertus, įvairios kilmės ir skirtingo stiliaus komponentai kontušo juostose dažniausiai būna perdaryti, pakeisti ir susieti naujais tarpusavio ryšiais. Visa tai sukuria vientisą ir išraiškingą visumą. Tokį vientiso stiliaus buvimo įspūdį padėjo išgauti ir plastinės formos kūrimo būdų derinimas, ir per visą juostų egzistavimo buityje laiką išsaugotas jų kompozicijos kanonas, dekoro motyvams suteikęs aiškią ir darnią tvarką. Koks bebuvo trumpas kontušo juostų audybos laikas (faktiškai XVIII a. antroji pusė) per jį pavyko sukurti kūrinių, kuriuos vertai reikia laikyti tiek Rytų, tiek ir Vakarų meno savastimi bei viena aukščiausių dailiosios tekstilės viršūnių. ENThe taking over of the Eastern and then Western textile motives and different ways of expression not only does not mitigate the artistic value of the bands, weaved in Lithuania, Poland and other countries, but also significantly determines the peculiarity of their style since the ornaments of all the times and all the nations are of different origins and the fabrics of the type are no exception. On the other hand, components of different origin and different style, noted in the bands, are most frequently changed and newly interrelated. All of the above creates an integral and expressive whole. Such an impression of existence of an integral style was succeeded to be achieved by coordination of the ways of creation of the plastic form and the canon of composition of the bands, retained during the entire period of their existence, which provided the decoration motives a clear and harmonious order. Despite the short time period of existence of weaving of the bands (actually the second half of the 18th century), the craftspeople created certain works, which can be considered a peculiarity of both Eastern and Western art and some of the highest achievements of fine textile.
