Is the organization culture of high education friendly for women researchers in Lithuania?

LTStraipsnyje pristatomas Lietuvos kontekstą atspindinčios tarptautinės studijos fragmentas apie palankios kultūrinės aplinkos poveikį aukštojo mokslo srityje ir kylančias problemas moterims, kurios atlieka tyrimus industrijų ir technologijų srityse. Siekta nustatyti, kaip edukacinės aplinkos moterų "kitoniškumas" yra paaiškinamas, remiantis hierarchiniais, biurokratiniais santykiais, kaip "vyriškoji" kultūra paveikia moterų mokslininkių karjerą. Išanalizavus Lietuvos moterų mokslininkių, dirbančių šiose srityse, nuomones bei aplinkai būdingus faktus paaiškėjo, kad Lietuvoje vyrauja stereotipinė nuostata, jog moterys mokslininkės netinka dirbti "vyriškų" profesijų srityse (kaip antai technologė, inžinierė); akivaizdžiai deklaruojamas nepasitikėjimas moters sugebėjimais bei kvalifikacija industrinių ir technologinių tyrimų srityse; jau beveik dvidešimt metų vyksta Rytų Europos šalių plėtra link gerovės valstybės ir laisvosios rinkos santykių, konstruojanti moterims paradoksalią mokslininkių būseną "tarp modernumo ir patriarchalumo". Straipsnyje siūlomos neatidėliotinos priemonės, kurių būtina skubiai imtis mūsų šalyje, siekiant paremti moteris mokslininkes, pažangą ir padėti joms įsitraukti į Europos mokslinių tyrimų erdvę.

ENThe article presents a fragment of the international study of the influence of favourable cultural environment in the area of higher education, reflecting the context of Lithuania and the emerging problems, faced by women, engaged in researches in the area of industries and technologies. Attempts are made to identify the ways the “otherness” of women in the educational environment can be explained by referring to the hierarchical and bureaucratic relations and the ways the “male” culture influences the careers of female researchers. Upon analyzing the opinions of Lithuanian women scientists, working in the areas and the facts, characteristic of the environment, it appeared that in Lithuania there prevails a stereotypical attitude that women scientists are not fit for "men’s" professions (such as technologies and engineering); non-confidence in women’s abilities and qualifications in the areas of industrial and technological researches is expressly manifested; the Eastern European countries’ development towards the status of states of prosperity and free market relations has been in progress for almost twenty years, which resulted in the emergence of a peculiar status of women scientists "somewhere between modernity and patriarchate". The article suggests urgent measures, necessary to be taken in Lithuania in order to support women scientists, encourage their progress and help women researchers to integrate into the European scientific researches’ areas.
