LTIš namudinių amatų Lietuvoje populiariausias buvo audimas. XIX a. pab.-XX a. pr. dar audė kone kiekvienoje kaimo troboje, todėl, užsibrėžus šiam amatui suteikti komercinį pobūdį, nereikėjo ypatingų investicijų ar esminio kaimo meistrų perorientavimo, svarbesni buvo organizaciniai darbai: suburti amatininkus, išmokyti juos austi modernesnėmis staklėmis, aprūpinti žaliavomis ir audinių raštų pavyzdžiais, supirkti išaustus dirbinius ir pasirūpinti jų realizavimu. Iki šiol daugiau dėmesio sulaukė tarpukario dailioji amatininkystė. Tai lėmė mažesnis istorinis nuotolis, skiriantis mūsų laikus nuo XX a. 4-ojo dešimtmečio - laikotarpio, kai nepriklausomoje Lietuvoje pradėta koordinuoti amatininkų veiklą. Tuo tarpu XIX a. pabaigos-XX a. pirmųjų dešimtmečių audimo plėtotę, ypač jos komercinę - serijinių dirbinių - sritį, kurią globojo pavieniai asmenys (daugiausia dvarininkai) ir visuomeninės organizacijos, dar gaubia užmarštis. Straipsnio objektas - mažiau žinomų XIX a. pabaigos-XX a. I pusės audimo raidos faktų apžvalga, papildysianti iki šiol fragmentiškai nušviestą modernios lietuvių tekstilės organizacinį periodą. Daugiausia kalbama apie audimo puoselėtojas, dirbtuvių-mokyklų steigėjas, prisidėjusias prie tradicinio amato tęstinumo, nepretenduojant į visapusišką audyklų organizatorių nuveiktų darbų arba audėjų sukurtų dirbinių analizę. Straipsnyje analizuojama prie XX a. I pusės tekstilės plėtotės prisidėjusių Annos Mohl, Onos Bagnickaitės, Vandos Silvestravičaitės veikla. ENWeaving was the most popular of Lithuanian cottage crafts. At the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century weaving was present in almost every rural cottage therefore upon making the decision to commercialize the craft, no special investments or essential reorientation of rural craftspeople was necessary, organizational works were more important: to amass the craftspeople, teach them to operate modern weaving machines, supply them with raw materials and examples of patterns, buy the made articles and take care of their sales. Until present the fine crafts of the interwar period attained most attention, which was determined by a lower historical distance, separating the present times from the thirties of the 20th century, i. e. the time period, when craftspeople’s activities were commenced to be coordinated. On the other hand, the development of weaving at the end of the 19th – first decades of the 20th century, especially its commercial area of serial articles, which was taken care of by individual persons (mostly gentry) and social organizations is still in oblivion. The article provides an overview of lesser-known facts of development of weaving at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century, supplementing the organizational period of the modern Lithuanian textile, which has been only fragmentarily revealed until present. The article mostly deals with the nurturers of weaving, founders of shops and schools, who contributed to continuation of the traditional craft, it does not provide a comprehensive analysis of the works, performed by the founders of weaving shops or the articles, created by the weavers – it analyzes the activities of Anna Mohl, Ona Bagnickaitė and Vanda Silvestravičaitė, who contributed to the development of textile in the 1st half of the 20th century. The information was collected from written and archive sources, by applying the factographical method of researching.
