The purpose of the research is to: To reveal the difficulties experienced by care coordinators when working with foster carers' families in a care centre. Research objectives: 1) Define the system of child care in Lithuania; 2) Describe the activities of a foster care centre; 3) Identify the difficulties experienced by foster care coordinators when working with foster arers' families in a foster care centre. Empirical research results: Foster care coordinators working with foster carers' families in a care centre face difficulties for a variety of reasons: excessive workload, a lot of paperwork, unmotivated foster carers, lack of other professionals, and too much responsibility. Most of the respondents who face difficulties often experience tension, constant stress, fear of making mistakes, insecurity, and too much responsibility. Difficulties also arise when dealing with other professionals. These include: incomplete information, lack of cooperation and unequal treatment of the care coordinator. The majority of respondents often feel that their workload is too heavy. Respondents often feel prejudiced against care coordinators when establishing contact with foster carers' families. The ability to establish contact with foster carers' families, to cooperate with other professionals, to think critically, to be aware of different methods of support and to adapt them, and to make decisions help most respondents to overcome the difficulties they face. The participants indicated that communication and conflict resolution training and interviews, case discussions were effective tools for overcoming difficulties.
