Kovų dėl lietuviškų pamaldų Seinuose ir Punske klausimu
LT1983 m. spalio 16 d., švenčiant 5-ąsias popiežiaus Jono Pauliaus II pontifikato metines, po 37 metų kovų į Seinų baziliką buvo grąžintos lietuviškos pamaldos. Nuo tų įvykių prabėgo 40 metų. Seinų lietuvių pastangos nenuėjo veltui – pamaldos lietuvių kalba šioje šventovėje yra atnašaujamos ir dabar. Daugelio kovotojų dėl lietuviškų pamaldų jau nėra tarp mūsų. Jų darbus turime pagarbiai prisiminti ir jų atminimą kitoms kartoms perduoti. Daug kam ir dabar sunku suprasti, kodėl ištisus dešimtmečius lietuviams reikėjo kovoti dėl teisės melstis gimtąja kalba, kodėl šiomis dienomis Seinų bazilikoje kabo dvi atminimo lentos, skirtos kunigui Stanislovui Rogovskiui (Stanisław Rogowski), labiausiai besipriešinusiam lietuviškoms pamaldoms Seinuose [p. 262].
ENOn 16 October 1983, on the fifth anniversary of the pontificate of Pope John Paul II, after 37 years of struggle, Lithuanian services were returned to the Seinai Basilica. It has been exactly 40 years since those events. The efforts of the Lithuanians of Seinai have not been in vain - Lithuanian-language services are still offered in the sanctuary today. Many of those who fought for Lithuanian services are no longer with us. We must respectfully remember their work and pass on their memory to the next generation. It is still difficult for many people to understand why Lithuanians had to fight for decades for the right to pray in their native language, and why two memorial plaques are hanging in the Seinai Basilica today, dedicated to the priest Stanisław Rogowski, who was the most opposed to Lithuanian worship in Seinai.
