Summary / Abstract:

Nuo XVI a. II p. lanką keičia paraku užtaisomi individualūs ginklai.

ENIn the medieval Europe there emerged three types of armament of gunners: English, continental European and Russian. The purpose of the thesis is to define which model and period armament of gunners of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania belonged to, when Lithuanians started using arbalest and archibalist, when powder firearms replace manual weapons operating on the basis of the spring and string principle and war machines, and as much as possible to include the material of Lithuanian archaeological research in scientific circulation. According to the model of use long-distance battle gunner weapons of the 14th-16th century the weapons of the Lithuanian gunners demonstrate the relation of the continental European arbalest and the arch, where the arbalest prevails. The overall quantitative analysis of the arrowheads of the times of the wars with crusaders found in the territory of Lithuania shows that the arbalests was a common gunner weapon used by both conflicting sides. The forms of the arbalest arrowheads are quite “international”, which reflects a general tendency of development of the medieval European armament - unification. During the conflict with the order both sides little used the arch. In the 14th century the Lithuanian gunners, a part of which descended from the eastern territories of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and in the 15th century also Tartars, who served in the army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, used the arches of reflexive design. Since the second half of the 16th century the arch is replaced by individual powder-loaded weapons.
