Summary / Abstract:

ENThe article analyses the social security system and the social insurance situation in Lithuania. The focus is on the collection of social insurance contributions and coercive measures to recover unpaid contributions. It has been established that a general policy of improving the conditions of the state economy, promoting the development of the country’s economy and reducing the possibilities to avoid taxes, is very important for increasing the efficiency of the collection of state social insurance contributions. It is necessary to move to a universal electronic exchange of information in the social security system and closer cooperation with business and public sector institutions.
