Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje pateikiama mokslinės literatūros ir dokumentų apžvalga bei atlikto tyrimo duomenys, atskleidžiantys akademinio mobilumo įtaką absolventų karjeros įgyvendinimui ir tai sąlygojančius universaliuosius gebėjimus įgytus ar sustiprintus, dalyvaujant akademinių mainų programose studijų ar postudijiniu laikotarpiu. Įgyti profesiniai gebėjimai ir sustiprinti universalieji gebėjimai turėjo reikšmingos įtakos ir suteikė pranašumo karjeros įgyvendinimo procese – dalyvaujant įsidarbinimo atrankose ir įsitvirtinant darbe. ENLabor market is becoming more dynamic; it is changing because of technologies, economic ups and downs, joint enterprises and bankruptcies, disappearance of certain jobs and new requirements for labor. Young people are constantly seeking new work opportunities, so it is necessary to have certain skills to keep a stable job. These skills are: the ability to find a suitable job place, to present yourself as the best candidate, to adapt to the new working environment. Studies in high school are an important step in a career, because there is a possibility to gain useful knowledge and experience in the chosen field, exercise professional and universal skills which will help with smooth transition from a safe learning environment to a challenging and competitive labor market. A large number of students or graduates is participating in academic mobility programs. The goal of empirical research is to find out the graduates’ opinion regarding the benefits of academic mobility; the influence on graduates’ career paths and the resulting universal skills gained or improved during academic mobility meanwhile studying or after graduation. The results of the quantitative research questionnaire revealed that graduates improve foreign language skills, gain intercultural experience, acquire more professional knowledge and make new acquaintances. The participation in academic exchange programs helps to strengthen and improve universal skills such as problem solving, independent decision-making, confidence, initiative and responsibility. The academic mobility program provides an advantage in employment and settling in at a new job; receiving promotion and increasing salary. A number of graduates are encouraged to create their own business after acquiring knowledge from abroad. Keywords: Academic mobility; Universal abilities; Career. [From the publication]
